Ukrainian Sunday School Ukrainske Kolo will be holding its 5th annual Christmas children’s party in South London   Following the roaring success of “Koza-dereza”, the theatre production of 2011, the party will feature another piece of drama, a new take on a well-known piece of Ukrainian folklore, the story of Kolobok. “Cool Kolobok” is this year’s production about Ukrainian gingerbread man, as you have never seen it before!  The party will take place December 9, 2012, 2-4 pm at Chislehurst Methodist Church, Prince Imperial Road, Chislehurst, Kent, BR7 5LX.  Please come to >>>

Dissident Memory in Ukraine and Russia – talk by Tom Rowley, Thursday, December 6th, 7.00PM Tom Rowley, a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, will hold a talk at the Ukrainian Institute entitled Dissident Memory in Ukraine and Russia. This talk explores how dissidents are remembered in Russia and Ukraine after and during independence. By examining political rhetoric, documentary film, poetry and other media, an intricate picture of dissident activity emerges in reality and retrospective portrayal. Viktor Yushchenko speaks at the Ukrainian Institute in London

Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine (2005-2010) held a talk at the Ukrainian Institute in London on December 4, 2012 during which he focussed on Ukraine’s democratic progress, where it currently stands and where it is headed. President Yushchenko spoke about the current risk of Ukraine’s international isolation and the threat of the country becoming a “second Belarus”, cut off from the west.
