History: The Black Panthers were a team of African-American players from the Deep South who joined the Quebec Provincial League in 1936. The Provincial League was in and out of organized baseball over the years, and when it operated as an outlaw league Black players were able to participate. Officially-sanctioned minor leagues were still strictly segregated.
